William "Bill"'s Story
William "Bill" H. Balser, 82, Sharpsville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, after a long battle with his health. He was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Sharpsville, to Cleo and Viola (Hannah) Balser.
Bill graduated from Windfall High School in 1952 and served in the United States Air Force soon after graduating. He worked many jobs in communications all over the world, then retired from Siemans about ten years ago. His major pastime since retirement has been Facebook and Twitter. He talked to people of all walks of life from all over the world on his computer.
Survivors include his sisters, Dixie Elkin, Jacksonville, Florida, and Mary Woodard, Sharpsville; nieces and nephews, Lisa Meinke and husband Jeff, Land O'Lakes, Florida, Eric Elkin, Weeki Wachee, Florida, Julie Buhadana and husband Shimon, Miami, Florida, Scott Woodard and wife Stacie, Sharpsville, and Monica Higgins and husband Greg, Sharpsville; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kelli Ann Balser; and sister, Sally Baker.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Boyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Church St., Sharpsville, with Dr. William Salsbery officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
