Wendell Houston Gibson, 77, Greentown, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. He was born Feb. 17, 1942, in Albany, Kentucky, to William and Dora (Cross) Gibson. He attended Clinton County High School. He married Cindy (Pickering) Gibson on Aug. 16, 1976, and she survives. He was owner and operator of W.H. Gibson Trucking for 35 years. He was a member of the Kokomo FOP and Indiana Sheriff's Association.
Wendell was an avid Colts and Cubs fan. He enjoyed watching sports and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Gibson; children, Melinda (Kent) Young, Melissa (Doug) Harnish, Hugh (Cindy) Gibson, Jill (B.J.) Butcher, Wendy (Ryan) Howell and William (Robin) Gibson; grandchildren, Zach (Rosie) Young, Trevor (Ashley) Young, Connor (fianceƩ Molly Shoffner) Young, Dylan (Brooke) Buck, Austin Buck, Wryan (Mollie) Gibson, Caleb (Kendall) Gibson, Braden (Kayla) Gibson, Judah Howell, Micah Howell and Emma Gibson; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Scott and Martha Gaye (Gene) Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Gibson; and three brothers, Burl, Charlie and Weldon Gibson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Christian Life Fellowship, 1009 Holiday Drive, Greentown, with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service. Pastors Ryan Howell and Gary Hoover will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.
