Wanda J. Blazer
Wanda was a 1963 graduate of Flambeau High School in Tony, Wisconsin, and went on to graduate from Minnesota Bible College in Minneapolis. She then worked for Mission Services and spent two years as a librarian with International Bible Translators at a college in Puerto Rico. She came to Kokomo with Mission Services and worked in the Christian Bible Bookstore owned by Bill and Claudia McGilvrey.
A longtime resident of Kokomo, Wanda was a charter member of Chapel Hill Christian Church, where she served on the Missions Committee for many years. It was her heart's desire for people throughout the world to hear the gospel and come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Although Wanda and her husband, Dick, did not have any biological children, they had a strong positive influence on the numerous young people who attended the church junior high youth group that they sponsored for many years. Wanda mentored and supported her "kids" in all ways, especially spiritually and socially. She loved Jesus with all of her heart, and she modeled that love to young people and adults alike. She gave selflessly and generously of her time, talent, and love to all who were blessed to know her.
After her marriage, Wanda worked with the family business, Blazer Farms, as office manager, bookkeeper, "meals on wheels" provider for the workers, and absolutely anything else that needed to be done to keep things running smoothly. She was an integral part of the operation.
In addition to her husband, Wanda is survived by sisters Joyce Hove and Wilma Coggins; brother, Lynn Farley; sister-in-law, Bonnie Farley-Regenauer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ray Farley; brothers-in-law Ervin Bollom, Eli Hove, and Roland Coggins; and sister-in-law, Kris Farley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, at Chapel Hill Christian Church, 2600 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Steve Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
