Walter Lee Wolford, 76, Kokomo, passed away at 3:31 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo. Born Sept. 18, 1941, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Pearl Wolford Slavey. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army. On April 27, 1996, he married Mary "Wilda" Eades, and she survives.
He was an electrician and a computer repairman, having been employed with Continental Steel, Chrysler Corp., and then retiring from Delco Electronics in 2001. He was a member of the Howard Lodge 93 F&AM, Scottish Rite, and UAW Local 292. He enjoyed genealogy, traveling and visiting over 150 lighthouses, car shows, and was a tech adviser to everyone. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was very patriotic.
Survivors include his wife of more than 21 years, Mary "Wilda" Wolford, Kokomo; his children, Erik Wolford, Taiwan, Mike (Debra) Weideman, Lafayette, Jeff (Jenni) Weideman, Sharpsville, Beth Carroll, Belleville, Illinois, Susan (Artie) McDonald, Kokomo; two brothers, Joe Wolford, Kokomo, and Jerry Slavey, Florida; four sisters, Mary Ann (Don) Adams, Kokomo, Pat (Mark) Spaulding, Carmel, Carolyn (Randy) McKay, Kokomo, and Debbie Landrum, Russiaville. There are also nine grandchildren, Kyle Carroll, Holly, Kailey and Riley McDonald, and Claire, Audra, Wade and Nick Weideman, and Shelby Larson.
He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, John Slavey and Jeff Slavey.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo. Mark Spaulding will officiate. Burial with military rites by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo Military Rites Team will follow at Albright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday; also from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary.
