Velma "Rosie" Bookmiller, 91, Kokomo, and formerly of Russiaville, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. with her three sons at her side. She was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Howard County, to Raymond and Violet M. (Gifford) Hunsberger.
Rosie worked at Delco Electronics and retired in 1986 after 30 years of service. She was a snowbird for years and lived in Florida in the cold winter months. Rosie loved watching the Atlanta Braves and was a big fan. She was very active in her town meetings and never hesitated to give her opinion. Rosie loved euchre, shuffle board, bingo, gardening and canning. She loved her roses and enjoyed walking through the yard.
Survivors include three sons, George (Linda) Bookmiller, Russiaville, Charles (Traci) Bookmiller, Cutler, and Patrick (Margi) Bookmiller, Russiaville; grandchildren, Patrick Jr. (Sandy) Bookmiller, Stephanie (Wayne Anderson) Bookmiller, Megan Lynch and Christie (Don) Utterback; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah Anderson, Josh Stewart, Aden Bookmiller, Alicia (Dustin) Wilder, Stella and Charlotte Lynch; and great-great-grandchild, Ara Stewart.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Violet Hunsberger; two sisters, Anna (Pete) Abney and Wanda Poe; two sons, Steven Bookmiller and Denny Bookmiller; and one granddaughter, Charlyn Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. Russiaville, with Pastor Jeff Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpsville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. till the start of the funeral services at 1 p.m.
