Travis H. Hollis, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 4:05 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at his residence. He was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Lamar County, Vernon, Alabama, to the late Ottis and Minnie (Pennington) Hollis. He married Joan "Jody" (Hilery) Hollis on July 8, 1956, in Midway Plant City, Florida, and she survives.
Travis retired from National Homes in Lafayette, where he worked as a carpenter for over 34 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading western books. Travis was a member of Kokomo Christian Fellowship.
Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Jody; daughter, Gail (Rodney) Frye, of Camden; son, David Allen Hollis, of Kokomo; two granddaughters, Mandy Wertz-Hughes and Maggie Sue Wertz; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wilcoxson and Mary Joyce McKinzie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster St., with Pastor Nicky Farmer officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, also at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Camden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Travis's memory to the Kokomo Christian Fellowship.
