Stephen 'Mailman Steve''s Story
Stephen "Mailman Steve" Eugene Anderson, 62, Kokomo, passed unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at his home. Stephen was born March 7, 1955, in Kokomo to his parents, Glen Eugene and Nova (Fye) Anderson. Stephen married Cindy Duncan on May 27, 1978, in Russiaville.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Cindy; sister; children, Laura (Mike Dukes) Dugan, Brent (Gabrielle) Anderson, Belinda Anderson, and Raymond (Kayla) Shelby II; two grandchildren, Xander and Haila; and great-nephew, Zachary.
Stephen graduated from Taylor High School, class of 1973. He went on to serve in the United States Army as an Army Ranger for nearly 13 years. Upon completion of his military service, Stephen began his second career with the United States Postal Service, until retiring in 2012. He enjoyed meeting new people and interacting with anyone. His great sense of humor, quick wit, and compassionate personality will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Nova.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Services will be noon Sunday, Feb. 18, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel. Pastor Bill Duncan will officiate. Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
