Ruth A. Wright, 90, formerly of Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, Aug. 7, 2017, at her home. She was born Aug. 2, 1927, to Lindsay and Thelma (Neat) Holmes. She married J.C. Wright on June 12, 1946, in Kentucky, and he preceded her in death Jan. 23, 2002.
Ruth retired from Delco Electronics with several years of service. She attended Calvary Temple Church in Kokomo and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening.
Surviving family include her children, Ivanell (Gary) McDonald, Haleyville, Alabama, and Gail (Laurie) Wright of Wawpecong; grandchildren, Michele Shotts, Lisa McDonald, Kenny (Jessica) McDonald, Phillip Wright; several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Rollin Holmes, Ray Holmes, Junior Holmes, Roger Holmes, Rachel Burton and Faye Bottoms.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.C.; son, Dennis Wright; grandson, Billy Wright; and sister, Ruby Rice.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with her brother, the Rev. Junior Holmes, officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
