Russell Ora Parkhurst, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at North Woods Village, Kokomo. Born May 21, 1934, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Ora Parkhust and Janice (Freed) Parkhurst. In Kokomo in 1961, he married Anna Jean (Hounchell). She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2017.
He was employed with Haynes Stellite (now Haynes International) for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Pacers, and driving his golf cart around the neighborhood where he loved visiting his neighbors. He also liked to fish and had bowled in leagues for several years. He was also a member of Hinkle Masonic Lodge 310 F&AM. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and his cat, "Ugly."
Survivors include two sons, David (Angela) Parkhurst, Russell O. Parkhurst II, both of Kokomo; two sisters, Edith Cook, Eureka, California, and Elsie Purvis, Burlington. There are also five grandchildren, Nicholas (Carrie) Parkhurst, Christopher Parkhurst, Kayla Parkhurst, Jordan (Calvin) Fitch, Emily (Alexander) Teller; and one great grandchild, Baylee Parkhurst.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one son, Rusty Draper.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor Michael Alley will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
