Robert's Story

Robert L. "Bob" Trent, 86, Noblesville, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Harbour Manor, Noblesville. He was born June 29, 1931, to John L. and Edith (Hall) Trent. On April 20, 1952, he married Nancy Davis, who preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1997.
Bob served his country in the United States Army from Aug. 29, 1951, to March 31, 1954. After retiring from Chrysler in 1987, after many years of service, Bob and his wife moved to Galveston, Texas, where he worked for Century 21 as a realtor. He then returned to Kokomo after his wife's passing in 1997.
Bob was also a well-known manager at Northside Little League Nationals with four City Championships.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Sheila) Trent, Noblesville, and Gary (Cyndy) Trent, Kokomo; grandchildren, Brady Trent and Haley Trent; stepgrandchildren, Shelly Schembra, Kelly Henley and Nikki Castle; great-grandchildren, Kayla Salinas and Hallie Bontrager; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jaylee Neargardner, John Latta III, Cash Henley, Knox Henley, Kwinn Henley and Saylor Schembra; brothers, John E. (Cheryl) Trent, Naperville, Illinois, and Carl Trent, Columbia City; brother-in-law, Alan Oswalt, Big Ben, Wisconsin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; and sister, Alice Oswalt.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Steve Cole officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military rites provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
