Robert "Bob" V. Maughmer, Walton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Waterford Health Campus in Kokomo. He was born March 11, 1928, in Logansport to the late Francis Bernard and Mildred Irene (Crusan) Maughmer.
Bob was a 1946 graduate of Walton High School. He joined the Navy after high school and was an electrician's mate third class.
Bob joins his loving wife, Lue, who passed away in February 2012, in eternal rest after sharing 64 years together.
Bob retired as a district manager from General Telephone (Verizon) in 1987 after 39 years. He also owned and operated Bob's Service Center, Radio & TV Repair from 1954 to 1961.
Bob was involved in many community affairs. He was the president of the Logansport Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of the Logansport Utilities Service Board for five years. He served on General Credit Union's board of directors from 1990 to 2006 and again from 2013 to 2015. He was chairman of the board from 1994 to 2005.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association, the National Association for Amateur Radio and the American Woodworkers Association. Bob also was an expert master gardener, earning his certification from Purdue University in 1991. He was a tax aide and volunteer for AARP and held his real estate license for 10 years.
Bob enjoyed all things woodworking whether construction, building furniture, woodturning or woodcarving. He loved traveling, fishing, camping and rock hounding. He enjoyed reading, poetry and working jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his children, Tony (Kathy) Maughmer, West Lafayette, and Jan (Kevin) Connolly, Beloit, Wisconsin; grandsons, Nicolas Maughmer, West Lafayette, and Jason (Kristelle) Maguire, Copper Canyon, Texas; brother, Ned (Janice) Maughmer, Walton; sister, Nancy (Jim) Hager, Arizona.
His sister, Carol Gamble, and brother, Bill Maughmer, preceded him in death.
Per Bob's request, there will be no funeral services. Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory in Logansport is assisting the family.
