Richard J.'s Story
Richard J. "Stump" Ronk, 69, Russiaville, passed away at 7:31 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born in Howard County on Feb. 9, 1949, to Richard N. and Violet A. (Windle) Ronk.
Stump was a Western High School graduate and served in the United States Navy. He worked for Pioneer as a grain truck driver and then went to work for Frito-Lay for 14 years. Stump was a member of American Pitbull Terrier Club, Hoosier Rail Loader. He was an avid fisherman, loved the Colts football team, Saturday fishing shows, watching WWE wrestling, but his biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Samantha (Brian) Hartley, New London; sister, Jane A. Anthony, Venore, Tennessee; grandchildren, Miley Sue Gosnell, Mason Joseph Ronk, Emily LuAnn Hartley; special friends, Greg Jones and Jones family, Ronnie Hendrix, Steve and Pam Gram, James Davis.
Stump was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Violet Ronk, son Richard Paul Ronk; sister Shelia Ronk; brothers Jim Ronk and Michael Steelman; brother in-law Mitch Anthony
Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Steve Cole officiating. Burial will be Monday, March 19, 2018, at New London Cemetery.
