Richard "Rick" Wayne Hicks, 57, a native of Muncie and a resident of Greentown, who was born Feb. 4, 1960, the son of Robert L. and Janice (Curry) Hicks, passed away peacefully at 4:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at I.U. Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. On Dec. 30, 2017, he married Julie A. Hochstedler, and she survives.
Rick was employed at Fiat Chrysler in Tipton as a supply quality inspector. He developed everlasting relationships with coworkers and will be forever remembered for his generosity and love of music. Rick often extended a helpful hand to those in need and participated in many charitable events. He enjoyed playing the guitar, hunting with his sons, riding motorcycles, and spending precious time with his grandchildren. Rick attended Abundant Life Church.
Rick is survived by his wife, Julie A. Hicks, Greentown; mother, Janice Hicks; children, Jason (Nicole) Hicks and Matthew (Amber) Hicks; stepdaughters, Quinlyn Hochstedler and Asha Hochstedler; grandchildren, Isabella Ann, Annalise Elizabeth, Samantha Grace, Lincoln Gabriel and Bethany Lee; sisters, Connie (Mike) Ballard and Bobbi (Ford) Jefferson; sister-in-law, Amy Warnock Black; mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Warnock; and nine nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Pastor Robert L. Hicks.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Tim Cooper officiating. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, 2542 Road 825, Norman, IN 43330. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mary Mahaney. Mary is a friend of Rick and Julie's at Chrysler who has taken on the responsibility of raising her grandchildren after the untimely deaths of her daughters, who sadly passed in a car accident and to cancer.
