Richard (Darwin) Cyphers Sr.

Richard (Darwin) Cyphers Sr., 89, Windfall, was reunited with his wife and children on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019. He was born Nov. 3, 1929, to Leslie and Ethel (Smith) Cyphers.
After graduating from Windfall High School in 1949, he went on to marry his childhood and high school sweetheart, Joan (Massey). They were married for 59 years.
Darwin then served in the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran.
He retired from the Chrysler Kokomo Transmission Plant after working for 44 years and was a longtime member of Windfall Christian Church, the Windfall Lions Club and American Legion.
After coming home from the Korean War, Darwin dedicated his life to serving the Lord and his community. He was an elder of the Windfall Christian Church for more than 54 years. He was instrumental in establishing the Faith Promise Fund in the 1960s. It has raised over $750,000 for the missionaries out in the field.
He was the ultimate sports fan and outdoorsman. He was a great athlete and then shared his love of sports with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and hundreds of other children over the years.
Darwin is survived by his grandchildren, Scott (Anna) Servies, Jennifer (Jacob) Richey, Ricky Cyphers; son-in-law Skip Servies; great-grandchildren, Evan, Drew, Amelia, Avery and Grant Servies, and Connor and Hank Richey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Massey); daughter, Marie (Servies); and son, Rick Cyphers.
