Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Rebecca J. Lawson (Brown) and longtime resident of Acton, California, passed on to be with her Lord on July 6, 2018.
Known as "Becky," she was born Dec. 16, 1938, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Mark Anthony and Jean Brown. She was very involved with her youth church choir in Kokomo and attended Kokomo High School until her family moved in 1955 to California, where she completed her high school education at Dorsey High School.
She married the love of her life, James D. Lawson, on March 15, 1957, and they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in March of this year. They have two children, four grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
In 1988 she and her husband built their retirement home in Acton, California, and have lived there for 30 years.
She loved all animal life and worked for the Holiday Humane Society in North Hollywood, California, where she was the kennel manager for many years. She was never without animals and she loved her dogs, cats and the wildlife in her yard.
She is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Renee (her husband Warren); son, Jim; grandsons, Nick (his wife, Hannah), Ian (his wife, Brenda), James, Joseph; great-grandchildren, Gwyn, Logan and Jackson; brother, Paul (his wife, Julie), their children and grandchildren; sister-in-law, June, her children and grandchildren; half brother, Richard (his wife, Josette); many beloved cousins; and her childhood best friend, Weggie.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Steven M. Brown. She is a descendant of the Brown, Stevens, Richards and Shockes of Indiana.
Mom is and will be greatly missed but she is now dancing with her lord!
