R. Arlene Hurley

R. Arlene Hurley R. Arlene Hurley, 87, Russiaville, passed away peacefully at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018. She was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Bert A. and Marie (Scott) Osborne. On Feb. 26, 1950, she married Ernest E. Hurley, who preceded her in death March 20, 2015.
Arlene was a 1948 graduate of West Middleton High School and a 1983 graduate of Kaskaskia College. She served as secretary for 25 years for Drs. Sorenson, Cramer, and Brewer in their office. Arlene also served as secretary for Kaskaskia College and as a customer service representative for McDonald's.
Arlene was a member of West Middleton United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Kewanna, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Salem Promenade's Square Dance Club. She volunteered for the Kokomo Public Library, Russiaville branch, and was a charter member of the Marion County Board for the Special Olympics. She enjoyed working with the Families Organization and activities at Bruce Lake.
Arlene is survived by her children, Michael S. Hurley, West Middleton, and Ann M. (Derk) Hopwood, Russiaville; grandchildren, Michelle L. Nearon, Christopher M. (Jen) Hurley, Bryan Rans, Scott (Casey) Rans, Tim (Sally) Hubbard, Danielle Williams (Michael Jones), Devin Hopwood, and Ashley (Joel) Dockerty; great-grandchildren, Lucas Nearon, Andrew Nearon, Connor Hurley, Braden Hurley, Dawson Williams, Sophia Williams, Maddox Hurley, Miles Hurley, Ava Rans, Scarlett Rans, Timothy Hubbard Jr., Alan Hubbard, Ernest Hubbard, Paige Williams, Chad Graves, Aidan Dockerty, Brady Hopperich, Brielle Dockerty, Colton Hopperich; along with two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Richard Osborne; and daughter-in-law, Carla Hurley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Jack Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service on Saturday.
