Phyllis J. Schrader, 77, Kokomo, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Golden Living Center Sycamore Village. She was born in Indianapolis on Feb. 10, 1940, to Patrick and Lucille O. (Martin) Schrader and moved to Kokomo in 1974.
Phyllis was a Broad Ripple High School graduate and worked for Cuneo Press, Lloyd Cheek Reality, K-Mart associate and home care for 35 years. She was a member of the Kokomo Christian Fellowship. Phyllis was a member of the Eagles and lifetime member of the V.F.W., where she was the ladies auxiliary president for 10 years. She also served as senior vice president for the district and many other chairs. Phyllis was on the board of directors for eight years for Area 5.
Survivors include her two daughters, Theresa M. Sefton and Meare Tyler Banfield, both of Kokomo; three grandchildren, Charles Clint Bolen, Dell Sefton Jr. and Levi Eugene (Rebekah) Gross; great-grandchildren, Erik and Faith Lee; two sisters, Hilda Mae Skinner, Edith Ana Roberts, both of Indianapolis; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 15 years, a cockatiel named Bo Bo.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick Lucille Schrader; two brothers, Charles Robert Schrader and Ed Rurl Schrader; sister, Lucille Howe.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Nick Farmer officiating. Burial will be at Russiaville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
