Patricia Whitford, 83, Kokomo, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Kokomo, to Paul S. and Ruby Blanche (Murphy) Shutt. On Aug. 19, 1972, she married Frank W. Whitford at St. John's Lutheran Church, and he preceded her in death Feb. 20, 2008.
Patricia graduated from Kokomo High School in 1952. She grew up attending First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo and later became an active member of her husband's church, St. John's Lutheran. After 34 years of service, she retired in 1990 from the Consumer Loan Department at the downtown Kokomo offices of what is now KeyBank (formerly Union Bank and Trust). She was a founding member and president of the B.P.O. Elks Post 190 Ladies Auxiliary (Kokomo Lady Elks) and also served as an officer in the Kokomo Credit Women's Club and the Kokomo chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
She enjoyed dining and dancing with Frank at the Elks Club, gardening, buying shoes, Christmas shopping with her friends at Marshall Field's in Chicago and vacationing with Frank at Panama Beach, Florida. She was a generous and loving grandma to Scott and Kolleen, watching them frequently when their parents fulfilled their musical commitments in the community.
She is survived by her stepson, Keith Whitford; daughter-in-law ,Trudy Whitford; grandchildren, Scott (Chicago, Illinois) and Kolleen Whitford (Dallas, Texas); brothers, Bruce Shutt (Gainsville, Florida) and Richard Shutt (Colorado Springs, Colorado); and sister, Joan Shockley (Cumming, Georgia).
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rex Shutt, and daughter-in-law, Karen D. Whitford.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Joyce Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
