Nannie Ruth (Hill) Simer, 88, Howard County, passed away at 9:28 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown. She was born May 27, 1929, in Hardeman County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late James Henry "Tobe" and Ada Idell (Scarbrough) Hill. On July 7, 1948, in Mississippi, she married Edgar Hugh Simer, who preceded her in death May 25, 1992.
Nannie loved her children and grandchildren very much. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and going to garage sales, along with feeding her birds and listening to gospel music.
Nannie is survived by her children, Patricia Simer-Little, Mary R. (Ron) Simer-Alexander, Edgar "Allen" (Lynn) Simer, Michael L. Simer, Steven P. Simer, Roger E. (Deborah) Simer, Larry D. (Judy) White, and 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Nannie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar, and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Toph Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Greentown. Friends are invited to visit with the family from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
