Myrna E Tappan, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born July 21, 1933, in Alexandria, to the late Ralph Watson and Mary (Watson) Fike. On June 27, 1953, she married James O. Tappan, and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2009.
Myrna graduated from Alexandria High School and attended Ball State University. Her early jobs were in management of several restaurants, but she had been a homemaker since the 1970s, tending to her family, home and gardens. She loved books, movies, music, IU basketball and the Colts and was a member of the Garden Club and Added Grace at Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Pamela (Dr. Thomas) Prather, Kokomo, Dr. Paul (Debbie) Tappan, Knoxville, Tennessee, Ronald (Goldie) Tappan, Pleasanton, Texas, and Jennifer Tappan, Kokomo; grandchildren, Christen Geisz, Carmel, Dr. Blake Prather, Carmel, Alison Graham, Forney, Texas, and Phoebe Tappan, Pleasanton, Texas; brother, Warren Watson, Florida; and her companion for the last five years, Milt Brown.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 W. Mulberry St., Kokomo, with the Rev. Dr. Brian Cook officiating. Burial will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery at a later date. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
