Monelle Peter, 87, of Kokomo and formerly of Young America, passed away on Jan. 5, 2019. She was born on Aug. 18, 1931, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Harry and Thelma (Scott) Wisher.
She was a homemaker, farm wife, and worked in the kitchens of Washington Township School and then Lewis Cass High School in Walton.
Monelle was a member of Blue Ball Church near Walton, where she was always ready to help in any way she could to serve the church.
Monelle was married to Robert L. Peter on Nov. 28, 1954. He preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2018.
Monelle is survived by her daughters, Melinda (Art) Luttrell, of Kokomo, and Valerie (Mike) Welch, of Midland, Michigan; grandchildren, Jason (Daphne) Luttrell, Heather Luttrell, great-grandchildren, Naomi and Norah Luttrell, all of Grove City, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Don Wisher, Greentown; and a sister-in-law, Mary Boswell, Denver, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; two brothers, Robert Wisher and Norm Wisher; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wisher, Sandy Wisher, and Sally Peter; and brothers-in-law, William Peter and Forrest "Bud" Boswell.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Center Cemetery, just north of Young America. The Rev. Jerry Moore will preside. Friends are invited to attend the graveside service, or may leave online condolences at www.indianafuneralcare.com.
A very special thank you goes to the staff of Wellbrooke of Kokomo. Words can't express how much we appreciated all they did for Monelle over the past four years. Also, thank you to Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their care of Monelle in her final weeks.
