Mary Jane Joosten, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 4:59 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Regina (Ebil) Jelinski. On Oct. 23, 1954, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she married Bruce Joosten at St. Gall's Church, and he preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2013.
Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy. She retired in December of 1990 from the Indiana Department of Revenue after 10 years of service as an office manager. Mary was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards and games with family, going out to eat, casinos, and going to Las Vegas to the Westward Ho Casino.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cheryl McDaniel; grandchildren, Erin (Brad) Coolbaugh, Michael (Rachael) McDaniel, Lewis Joosten, Lauren (Shane) Lowery and Victoria (Grant) Walker; great-grandchildren, Micah Coolbaugh, Raylan McDaniel, Harper McDaniel and Asher Joosten; and brother, James Jelinski.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Alan Joosten; and great-granddaughter, Kaelynn Coolbaugh.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington St., with the Rev. Father Christopher Roberts the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the church.
