Marvin Raleigh Foust, 88, Kokomo, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 6:48 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones at home. Marvin was welcomed into this world Oct. 28, 1928, in Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, to the late Floyd and Stella Foust.
Marvin moved to Kokomo with his family from Tennessee in the 1930s. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1948. He then met and married the love of his life, Patti Rose. They were married on May 18, 1951. They recently celebrated their 66th Anniversary. They spent winters in Florida all of their married life.
Marvin served in the National Guard after graduating from high school. He then went into the landscaping business in 1950. Eventually his son Jeffrey became his business partner in 1976, when they became Foust Nursery and Landscaping. Marvin was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church where he previously had served as a trustee and deacon.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife Patti Foust; his two sons, Jeffrey (Karen) Foust and Mark (Melissa) Foust. He was a devoted Papaw to his grandchildren, Adam (Jessica) Foust, Michigan, Justin (Allison) Foust, Ohio, Maria Foust and Marcus Foust, Florida. He was also a PG "Papaw Great" to Parker, Grayson, Beckett and Bailey Foust; and survived by sisters, Inez (John) Garr and Marilyn Hughes.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carver Foust; and sister, Mildred Smyser.
The transition from this world to the next can be difficult at best. However it was made easier by the outstanding care and support of Great Lakes Caring, and their entire devoted staff.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church 1967 West Boulevard, Kokomo, with Pastor Jeff Sexton officiating.
