Marion L. 'Bud''s Story
Marion L. "Bud" Longfellow, 82, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord at 8:51 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born Dec. 16, 1934, in Kokomo to Earl M. and Betty M. (Mays) Longfellow. He married Mary K. VerBryck on Sept. 5, 1958, in Galveston and she survives.
Bud graduated from Kokomo High School in 1953 and went to work for Stellite and then Cabot Corp. until his retirement in 1986. In high school, he won an award for his art painting. He loved music and played with the Hoosier Strings.
Surviving family include his wife, Mary K. Longfellow, Kokomo; his children, Letitia Ward and Bradley (Dawn) Longfellow. Also surviving are his three granddaughters, Amburr, Alesha and Megan; three great-grandsons, Macayle, Hayden and Maximus; and cousin, Bill (Ila) Robertson, Galveston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carla J. Longfellow; brother, Earl Robert Longfellow; and nephew, Frank Longfellow.
Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, 207 S. Sycamore St., Galveston, with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church of Galveston in Bud's honor.
