She worked at Howard Community hospital and served two terms as the Clerk Treasurer for the town of Russiaville where she was influential in many infrastructure projects. She left that role in 1978 to relocate to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to support her husband Carl's career.
In Pittsburgh she began a new career chapter in the financial services industry where she worked until her retirement to Carolina Beach in 1999. In her retirement she loved to make jewelry and to collect shells.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Carl Morris, also from Kokomo, and of Carolina Beach; her daughter, Susan Morris Barbee (Albert Lynn); step-daughter, Teri Morris Russell (Phillip); four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was the youngest of four siblings including Dr. Jannene McIntyre Southworth of Pennsylvania, Capt. James G. McIntyre of San Diego and Cecil A. Coffey of Kokomo. She was beloved by many of her nieces and nephews also.
A private memorial will be held, and she asked that any memorials be directed to serving humanity. She asked that her epitaph be "She lived; She loved; She died."
