Louis Elton Crum Louis Elton Crum, 79, Sun City Center, Florida, passed away at Life Path Hospice House on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018. He was born on Sept. 10, 1939, in Delphi, Indiana, to Floyd Elton and Emma Beatrice (Eaton) Crum. On Nov. 5, 1960, Louis married Jeannette Rebecca Atkinson in Anchorage, Alaska, and she survives.
Louis was a 1957 Michigantown High School graduate, a 1958 Indiana Business College graduate and served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in March 2000 after 36 years. Louis worked both the casting and transmission plants in accounting/payroll. He was involved in the UAW 1302 and served as treasurer for several years. Louis was a member of Burlington First Brethren Church. He was also involved in actively supporting his children's activities. Louis was proud of his involvement in the Northwestern Band Boosters and he served as president and, later, treasurer. He was often seen driving the tractor, pulling equipment for the Purple Pride Band. In the later years, he was active in the Burlington Kiwanis, continuing his lifelong passion of serving others. The past five years he had been in Florida enjoying the sunshine.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Rebecca Crum; children, Louisa Ella (John) Hunt, April Janine (Jerrod) Furlong, Andrew Nathan (Lesley) Crum; grandchildren, Rachel Anne (Terry) Peace, Rebekah Marie Hunt, Sarah Janelle Hunt, Jackson Louis Crum, Samuel Alan Crum, Emma Kathleen Furlong, Jacob Christopher Furlong; great-grandchild, Alchemy Anne Peace; sisters-in-law, Grace Alice Crum, Katherine Atkinson; brother-in-law, Daniel Grayson Atkinson.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Emma Crum; brother, Howard Lee Crum; infant son, Allen Douglas Crum.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Burlington First Brethren Church, 205 W. Eighth St., Burlington, with Pastor John Drexler officiating. Burial will follow at Burlington Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the start of the funeral services Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Burlington Kiwanis Club or Northwestern Band Boosters. Stout & Son Funeral Home of Burlington is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.stoutandson.com.
