Leedy Everett Dunkin Jr., 77, Kokomo, passed away in the early morning March 12, 2018, at St. Vincent Kokomo. Leedy was born Jan. 4, 1941. He was the son of Leedy Everett Dunkin Sr. and Ella Jane Dunkin of Kokomo, who have passed. Leedy and Judith Ann Weaver were married May 9, 1987, at the Buckeye Friends Church by the Rev. Walter McAdams and the Rev. Richard Wrightsman.
Both Leedy and Judy were born with special needs, yet as a married couple they were able to become a great team, enjoying each other and living productive lives. Judy passed Aug. 2, 2016, after working her entire life at St. Vincent Kokomo.
Leedy attended elementary school and went to work at a nearby canning plant. Leedy was a member of the Masonic Temple and attending First Friends Church with Judy. They celebrated their 25th anniversary there May 12, 2012.
Leedy was gentle, kind and he loved people. He loved going out to eat, bowling, playing various board games, and traveling with Judy. After Judy and Leedy were married they were always together like two peas in a pod. Leedy worked 26 years for Ponderosa Steakhouses, then St. Joseph Hospital in the dietary department, before retiring from the hospital with Judy.
He is survived by his in-law caregivers, Kent and Susie Weaver; Joellyn Partyka (Weaver) and husband Jim, Clarkston, Michigan; Kirk Weaver, and wife Virginia, Canton, Michigan, all their children and grand-children, and many friends.
A celebration of Leedy's life will be noon Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
