Larry's Story

Larry Rex Harper, 80, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home. He was born at home Dec. 5, 1936 in Howard County, son of the late George and Elizabeth (Springer) Harper. On Feb. 19, 1955, he married Sue Ann Sheridan and she survives.
A 1954 Eastern High School graduate, Larry went on to attend Taylor University. He was employed with Chrysler Corporation as a supervisor for 35 years until his retirement in 1994. Larry was a devoted Christian and member of Sycamore Friends Church, where he participated in several lay witness missions. Larry was an avid golfer, a member of Meshingomesia Country Club in Marion, and shot three "hole in ones." He will also be remembered as a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
Larry and Sue Ann owned and operated Camillann dress shop as well as the Comet Grill in Greentown. Larry also enjoyed time spent at lake cottages on both Lake Webster and the Tippecanoe Lake. He took pleasure in spending the winter months in Ft. Myers, Florida, with his wife.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sue Ann Harper; children, Camilla K. (Brad) Winger, Kokomo, Timothy Scott (Mary) Harper, Shelbyville, and Gregory Dean (Marcia) Harper, Avon; grandchildren, Cortney (Josh) Dommer, Drew (Megan) Winger, Ted (Ashley) Harper, Molly (Lance) Collins, and Lauren Harper; great-grandchildren, Makenna, Keira, and Kade Dommer, Jett Harper and Ava Collins.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Harper; and sister, Janet Riley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Sycamore Friends Church, 1148 N. 1100 E., Greentown, with Pastors Jesse Vore and Rich Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sycamore Friends Church.
