Laike Vaughn Ryan (Mills-Miller), 21, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, in Dublin, Ireland, where she lost her battle with cystic fibrosis.
Laike traveled to Ireland, where she was wed to Shane Ryan. She loved Chinese food, A1 Steak Sauce, Rhianna, Russell Brand (she remained upset with Katy Perry regarding their divorce), Björk, Frida Kahlo, Virginia Woolf, Sylvia Plath and thought Tupac to be a modern-day philosopher. Laike loved to draw and spent hours discussing topics of feminism, liberalism, LGBT rights, her distain for Donald Trump, fashion, music and books, of which "Memoirs of Geisha" was one of her favorites. She was an old soul, who believed in big things. She did not let her disease define her, but traveled across the pond to pursue love and life.
Laike is survived by her husband, Shane Ryan; father and partner, Richard Mills and Chris Garsevanian; mother and stepfather, Jamie and Jeff Hines; mother- and father in-law, Anne and Daniel Ryan; grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, and loved ones.
Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin for the love and kindness they provided Laike in her last hours of life.
Each year thousands of people (especially children) are impacted by CF. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Also, each year the CF foundation holds the Great Strides walk in an effort to find a cure. Find out how you can get involved at https://www.cff.org.
Ironically, this service will be held on St. Patrick's Day, at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at Horizon Church, 1206 E. Vaile Ave. Kokomo, IN 46901). A private reception will follow for close family and friends.
