King S. Davis, 78, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Northwoods Village Rehab Center. He was born to the late King S. Davis Sr. and Mamie (Simmons) Davis on June 3, 1939, in Kennett, Missouri, but was raised in Ocee, Florida. King and his wife, Redith Davona (Pruitt), married April 29, 1967, and lived in Kokomo, Indiana, where they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. His wife survives.
King was employed with Swartwout on Toby Pike for several years and later employed with Emerson Engineering in Indianapolis as a group leader, retiring from there after 24 years. He was a member of Center Grove Separate Baptist Church, where he was a former superintendent. King was an outdoors man, he loved being outside and doing yardwork or just doodling around with something. He enjoyed fishing and always looked forward to deer hunting season. King was a very hard worker. He was the best father, grandfather and a very special husband. There was no one like him, and he will be missed dearly.
King is survived by his wife, Davona Davis; daughter, Melissa Long and son-in-law Timothy Long; daughter, Tona Fouch and three sons in Florida; five sisters; Laurabell, Mozella, Monette, Volene, and Kathleen, grandchildren, Lance, Kiana, Chad, Elizabeth, Tisha, Bradley, Lawanna and her companion Jerry Sharp; great-grandchildren, Avrial, Alex, Dylan, Breana, Sienna, Harper, Jason; several nieces, nephews, and a special sister-in-law, Helen Davis.
King was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, and a son, Michael Davis.
Funeral services for King will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, with Pastor James Sharber officiating. Visiting hours will be from 3 to 7p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017.
