Kevin Lee Crites, 56, Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 2:36 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, as a result of an auto accident near Red Bud, Illinois. He was born to the late Don E. and Ilene (nee Swartzel) Crites on March 26, 1961, in Kokomo. He married Kathryn "Kathy" (nee Braun) Crites on March 20, 1994, in Orlando, Florida; she survives.
Kevin was an IT consultant for BJC Healthcare. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Orlando, Florida, and St. Louis, Missouri. He and his wife, Kathy, were very involved in the outreaches at church and in their communities. Kevin loved sports - especially basketball, golf and Patriots football. He also enjoyed going fishing.
Surviving family include his wife, Kathy Crites, Red Bud, Illinois; mother, Ilene Crites, Red Bud, Illinois; six children, Melissa (Eddie) Diehl, St. Cloud, Florida, Tenika (Torey) Frees, Red Bud, Illinois, David M. Appel, Gainesville, Florida, Kelsey Crites, Omaha, Nebraska, Daniel Appel, Tampa, Florida, and Katie (Mitchell) Krutina, Omaha, Nebraska; and seven grandchildren, Christopher Hartman, Matthew Hansen, Ty Frees, Talon Frees, Trista Frees, Elayna Krutina and Jemma Krutina.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Crites.
Committal services will be held at a later date. Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston assisted the family with local arrangements.
