Kenneth E. Winner (also known as "Superman"), 76, Floral City, Florida, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, Florida. He was born Feb. 21, 1941 in Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maxine (Marquardt) Winner; and his birth mother, Juanita Amos.
Kenny was a tool maker with General Motors for 30 years and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Kenny was a member of VFW post 7122 in Floral City, where he served as chaplain and was a member of the Honor Guard. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, fishing and playing with his grandchildren, along with spending time at the post with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Joyce Winner; his children, Barbara Cox (Tony), Sheridan, Larry Winner, Kokomo, Kevin Winner (Teresa), Russiaville, and Amber Mastin (Andrew Quives), Kokomo; stepsons, Chris Mullinax (Julie), Kokomo, and Chad Mullinax (Jodi), Kokomo; brothers, Ronnie (Cheri) Winner and George (Gail) Winner; sister, Tammy (Brian Baker; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Kenny was laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A memorial service will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, with a short ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday, at Kingdom Life Christian Ministries, 2102 W. Alto Road. Kenny's grandson, Chris Cox, will present "Taps" after the ceremony in honor of his grandpa.
