K. Jay 'Mac''s Story
K. Jay "Mac" McKinley, 77, Kokomo, passed away at 10:37 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Matthews, to Francis "Bud" and Lela (Mendenhall) McKinley. He married Nancy Jackson on July 1, 1994, in Kokomo and she survives.
Jay retired from Chrysler in Kokomo. He pastored over several years in Peru, Galveston, South Holland and was serving as senior pastor at Grace Fellowship in Logansport. He also had a sharpening business for the last 22 years and served on the Galveston Cemetery Board for several years.
Surviving family includes his wife, Nancy McKinley, Kokomo; children, Jeff (Marsha) McKinley, Russiaville, Jim (Debbie) McKinley, Kokomo, and Joanna Brock, Kokomo; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Mason, Rachel, Logan, Lea, Jonathan, Maria and Joshua; four great-grandchildren, Naomi, Collin, Theodore and Maddux; one brother, Jon McKinley; and one sister, Judy Smelser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janet Anderson; sister, Rose; and four brothers, Dale, Jim, Dean and Billy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, with Pastor Jim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home and one hour before service time on Saturday.
