Julia Lou Roberts, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 17, 2017, at Waterford Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born July 6, 1929, in Rochester, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late William and Bessie (Binnion) Dovichi. On March 29, 1947, she married Jack M. Roberts at First Baptist Church of Kokomo, and he preceded her in death April 13, 2006.
Julia was a 1946 graduate of Kokomo High School. She was a former employee of the La Mode Dress Shop in downtown Kokomo. She also was employed at the Howard School Cafeteria, but spent most of her working career as a histologist working for Dr. Max Rudicell and the laboratories at St. Joseph and Howard Community Hospitals. Julia retired in December of 1991.
Julia was a member of Hillsdale United Methodist Church and the Women's Group of the church. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed being a loving and caring wife.
Julia is survived by her son, Charles "Chuck" (Cindy) Roberts, Kokomo; grandchildren, Jason (Clarice) Roberts, Wade (Laura) Roberts, and Jennifer (Louie) Pyle, all of Kokomo; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with Pastor Jeff Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
