John Edward Myers Sr., 83, Kokomo, passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Health. He was born March 5, 1934, in Kokomo to the late William Edward Myers and Neva Gladys (James) Myers. John married Lucy (Welcher) Myers on May 11, 1952, and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2015.
John worked on a farm most of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family. He loved nature and enjoyed bird-watching.
Surviving are his two sons, John Edward Myers and Richard (Glenice) Myers; two daughters, Brenda (George) Percifield and Lucinda Spencer; 10 grandchildren, Brad, Karen, Kristen, Andy, Heather, Richie, Trent, Allen, Kyle, and Patrick; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe (Drenda) Myers, Jerry (Vicky) Myers, and Wayne (Eveleen) Myers; three sisters, Sarah Murry, Marie Glunt, and Lora Melton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded him in death was his loving wife of 62 years, Lucy; his parents; three brothers, Warren Myers, Bill Myers, and Willard Myers; and three sisters, Neva Slusher, Mary Shepard, and Dorothy Staley.
There will be Celebration of Life for John at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, 3400 S. Webster St., Kokomo, officiated by Pastor Bill Duncan.
