John Frederick Hunt II


John Frederick Hunt II, 65, of Kokomo, passed away at 1:24 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at Ascension St. Vincent, Kokomo. Born July 14, 1954, in Kokomo, he was the son of the late John Frederick Hunt I and Wilma (Fye) Hunt.
He was a 1973 graduate of Kokomo High School. On June 8, 1974, in Kokomo, he married Lucy J. (Miller), and she survives. He was employed at Haynes International for 35 years as a cutter, also in inspection, retiring in 2007. He served on the committee of the Steel Workers Union Local 2958 for 20 years. He taught martial arts and was a Grand Master 8th Degree Black Belt, receiving it from Grand Master Robert Earleywine. He served two terms on the Democratic Party of the Howard County Labor Board and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was very dedicated to God and his church.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lucy J. Hunt, of Kokomo; two sons, James (Brandy) Hunt and John Frederick Hunt III, both of Kokomo; three sisters, Linda (Basil) Thompson and Cynthia Kline, both of Kokomo, and Theresa (Roger) Mordock, of Dexter, Kentucky; one grandchild, Austin Erb Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia Harris and Nancy Cottingham.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1204 N. Armstrong St., Kokomo, Indiana. The Rev. Father Brian Dudzinski will celebrate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., Kokomo, and also from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. There will be a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary.
