John Paul Hetzner, 74, Kokomo, passed away at 8:24 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Peru, to Alfred M. and Minnie (Gevers) Hetzner. On Feb. 11, 1968, he married Gloria I. Clark in Peru, and she survives.
John graduated from Mexico High School in 1961 and served in the Army National Guard as a helicopter crew chief from 1965 to 1971. He went on to work for Delco Electronics for over 34 years as a tinsmith, retiring in 1999. He cherished his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their various sporting events. He was a member of the Rusty Nuts Car Club and Macedonia Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, Gloria Hetzner, he is survived by his sons, David M. (April M.) Hetzner and Matthew J. (Kristie L.) Hetzner; grandchildren, Logan N. Hetzner, Corbin J. Hetzner, Garret C. Hetzner, Johannah G. Hetzner, M. Luke Hetzner, Gabriella M. Hetzner and Sara V. Zimbron; sister, Minnie Leona Slusser; sisters-in-law, Rachel L. Clark and Patti (John) Hetzner; brothers-in-law, Eric J. (Joyce) Clark and Fred (Joan) Snyder; and several loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Ralph and Margie Clark; and siblings, Dorothy Hightshoe, Sally Snyder and Alfred Hetzner.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor John Piotrowicz officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
