John Robert "Bob" Gingerich, 84, Greentown, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown. He was born June 26, 1933, to John E. and Bessie (Bontrager) Gingerich in Howard County, Indiana. He married Suzanne L. (Shoemaker) on July 23, 1965, and she survives.
He was in the first graduating class of Eastern High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955, attaining the rank of sergeant during the Korean War. He went on to attend Indiana University, receiving a master's degree in accounting and economics. He was employed by Delco Electronics in the accounting department, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Greentown Masonic Lodge 341, Order of Eastern Star 195, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Kokomo American Legion and a former member of the Kokomo Elks Lodge.
He is survived by wife, Suzanne Gingerich. He was also a much loved uncle to nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews
He was preceded by his parents; brother, Francis Gingerich (Marilyn); and sister, Carolyn L. Duncan (William).
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and the funeral service with be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St. in Greentown. Burial will follow the service in Christner Cemetery, Kokomo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital and/or St. Jude Hospital for Children.
