JoAnn Purnell, 59, Peru, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at her home. She was born April 16, 1958, in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of John Dick and Elizabeth Jewell (Hampton) Moor.
She graduated from Eastern High School in 1976 and went on to earn her associate degree as a certified dietician.
She loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the beach in North Carolina.
She is survived by daughter Melissa (Christopher) Himes and son John (Thosha) Koontz, both of Peru, Indiana; grandchildren, Aaron Cardwell, Alexandria Cardwell, Madison Cardwell, Amelia Sanders, Maleinna Maynard, Bradley Turpen and Skylar Koontz; great-grandchild, Kaison Cardwell; brother, Kenneth Hampton; father, John Dick (Donna) Moor.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Jewel Moor, and grandparents.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown. Pastor Richard Olson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hasler & Stout Funeral Home to help with final arrangements and/or The Multiple Myeloma Association.
