Joan Teresa Closson, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at her residence. Born Nov. 3, 1934, in Manchester, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Irene Walsh. On Feb. 18, 1972, in Knoxville, Tennessee, she married John Hilton Closson, and he survives.
She was employed with Milbank Manufacturing, retiring in the mid-1990s, with over 20 years of service. She enjoyed shopping on QVC and going to casinos.
Survivors include her husband of over 45 years, John Hilton Closson, Kokomo; one son, Blaine (Phyllis) King, Kokomo; three daughters, Shannon Cage, Roxann Andrews, and Tammy King, all of Kokomo; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Pastor Jeff Haill will officiate. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
