Jesse Darrell Newman, 84, Kokomo, passed peacefully Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Community North Hospital. Jesse was born March 17, 1933, in Sikeston, Missouri, to his parents, Harry and Clara (Anders) Newman. Jesse married Pauline Jones on Oct. 3, 1953, in Reno, Nevada. They were married for nearly 45 years until her passing on Oct. 8, 1997.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean Newman, and son, John (Lisa) Newman, both of Kokomo; brother, Jack Newman, Louisiana; and brother in-law, Jim Harmon, Texas. Jesse is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole (Troy Laux) Newman and Justin (Keely Radosevic) Newman; great-granddaughter, Ella Laux; and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse served our country proudly in the United States Army Air Corps during the Korean War. He went on to Continental Steel, where he worked as their supervisor of mechanic maintenance until they closed. He was a farmer in Miami County until he retired in 1982. Jesse and his family have been longtime members of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pauline, four sisters, and two brothers.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday Dec. 11, 2017, with visitation from noon until time of service at Ellers Mortuary and Cremation Center, Webster Street Chapel, with Pastor Mitch Norwood officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
