Jerry Earl Nelson


Jerry Earl Nelson, 82, Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, with family and friends by his side. He was born July 2, 1936, to Claude R. Nelson and Alice M. Nelson in Kokomo.
He graduated from Kokomo High School. He then went to work for General Motors, retiring after 30 years. Jerry was a talented musician. He played bass in the band he had with his family for over 40 years. He loved to restore old cars and enjoyed fishing. Jerry was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Kokomo. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and children.
Those surviving Jerry are his son, Jerry B. Nelson; daughter, Tamara M. Nelson; sisters, Louise Evans, Mary Lou Stroud and Margie Coy; and granddaughter, Megan Eddington.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers, Jim, Jack, Bill, Bob and Dave Nelson.
Funeral services for Jerry will take place at noon Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street, with Pastor Terry Russell officiating. There will be a one-hour visitation prior from 11 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to the burial at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.

We had been friends for over 60 years and would run in to each other once in a while. My husband and I went to see him about a week ago and had prayer with him May he always rest in peace. He was a swell guy
