Jerry L. "Rabbit" Johnson, 73, of Tipton, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. Jerry was born Nov. 12, 1944, in Kokomo to the late Cecil and Jesse (Durham) Johnson. He married Connie Lawrence on Dec. 31, 1987 and she survives.
Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Eastern High School. He was owner and operator of Rabbit's Family Billiard and Bob's Trading Post. He was a member of the Tipton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Shriners of Indianapolis and Tipton United Methodist Church. His hobbies included playing pool, cards, fishing and vacationing in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Survivors include his wife and love of his life Connie Johnson; two sons, Trent Johnson of Lafayette and Shane Johnson (Rachelle) of Logansport; a daughter, Brenda Hartley (Bill) of Elwood; son, Chad Lawrence of Anderson; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Dick Johnson of Kokomo; four sisters, Janie Marshall (George) of California, June Hughes of Kokomo, Sherry Bosher of Oakford and Eleanor Johnson of Sheridan; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Ray Johnson.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Steve Cole, and Bill Meiring officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at Nevada cemetery at a later date.
