We would like for him to be remember like this.....
He was a wonderful, funny, loving and humble man, who loved his family above all else. He was proud of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids and he loved us with all his heart and we knew it.
He taught us to be strong, to stand up for ourselves, to be competitive, yet how to lose with dignity and grace. He taught us how to work hard for the things we wanted and that HE would work hard for the things WE needed. To be honest and have integrity in all things.
Jerry is survived by his children, Tammy Jo Barnes (Scott) McCain, Camden, Gregory Dean (Michelle) Barnes, Flora, Douglas Marshall (Amanda) Barnes, Oregon, and Glen David (Jessica) Rodgers, Westfield; grandchildren, Evan McCain, Mason McCain, Josh Barnes, Kinsey Barnes, Blake Barnes, Brooke (Barnes) Cruickshank, Brant Barnes, Nolan, Hayden, Carter, Avery, Corinne, Joselyn Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Sophia McCain, Raquel, and Bodhi Barnes; sisters, Patricia DeVore, Logansport, and Wilma Jean Zell, Peru; he was married to Janet (Bennington) Gilman, who survives; and later married Linda Barnes Brookshire, who also survives.
