Jean Ann's Story
Jean Ann Bailey, 85, Galveston, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 1, 2018, at her home in Galveston. She was born March 24, 1932, in Peru, Indiana, to John W. and Mabel M. (Benner) Riggle. She married Dr. George I. Bailey on June 22, 1974, in Kokomo, and he survives.
Jean retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo with over 20 years of service. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Tipton Moose Lodge and was a volunteer for the Indiana State Fair Spotted Swine Association.
Surviving family include her husband, Dr. George Bailey, Galveston; children, Kathy Roper, Belleville, Illinois, Cheryl Butler, Kokomo, Teresa Boyer, Kokomo, Beth (Dave) Jump, Walton, Dr. Gail King, M.D., Carbondale, Colorado, George A. Bailey, Washington, District of Columbia, and Mary Bailey, West Palm, Florida. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Cynthia Elaine and Rebecca Kay; four siblings, Richard, Donald and John William Riggle Jr. and Loretta Bennett.
A celebration of Jean Ann's life will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, with Chaplain Richard Olson officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
