James Hollingsworth, 58, Kokomo, passed away at 11:48 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1959, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Marquis Dean and Delvigne (McKibben) Hollingsworth.
A 1977 Western High School graduate, James went on to attend Ball State before graduating from Indiana University in 1992 with an associate degree. James served his country as a military policeman in the United States Army from 1977 until 1980. James worked for many years as a drywall contractor and was a member of Brookside Free Methodist Church.
James was a competitive and talented sportsman who fished, played basketball and coached Little League. His family remembers his competitive nature when they played Scrabble, as he always won. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Brookside Free Methodist Church, 190 E. 400 South, with Pastor Doug Benham officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses. Messages of condolence may be submitted at www.shirleyandstout.com.
