James Stanley Briscoe, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions, Carmel, Indiana. Jim was an only child, born June 24, 1932, to James Russell and Kathleen Crandall Briscoe. Jim married Anna Lee Perkins Nov. 30, 1957, and they had three sons. Anna Lee preceded Jim in death on Jan. 12, 2002. On July 3, 2004, Jim and Janice Thompson Fitzgerald were married.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; his sons, Dr. Todd (Mary), Fort Wayne, Drew (Cheryl), Kokomo, and Kirk (Rachel), Fishers; nine grandchildren, Father Patrick Mary Briscoe, Providence, Rhode Island, Dr. Kristin Briscoe, Gainesville, Florida, Kathleen Briscoe, Boston, Massachusetts, Madison (Andrew) Quinnette, Indianapolis, Evan Briscoe, Lichinga, Mozambique, Africa, Elise Briscoe, Fort Wayne, Lydia, Sophia and Alanna Briscoe, Fishers; stepdaughter, Michele (David) Bixler; and stepgrandchildren, Nicholas Bixler, Seattle, Washington, and Elizabeth (Ryan) Rayl, Kokomo.
Jim graduated in 1950 from Milltown High School, Milltown, Indiana. In 1954, Jim graduated from Hanover College, Hanover, Indiana, with B.S. degrees in business administration and physical education. Jim was treasurer of his fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, Tau Chapter, and also served as student council representative.
Jim was employed by Associates Financial Corp. and First Source Bank in South Bend, Indiana. In 1975, Jim moved to Kokomo to work for First National Bank. In 1987, Jim served as president and CEO of Farmers Loan & Trust Co. of Tipton, Indiana. Jim retired in 1997 from First National Bank as executive vice president.
Jim served his community in many areas: member and elder emeritus of Kokomo First Christian Church, member and president of Kokomo Rotary and Kokomo Credit Union. He was a member of the Kokomo Country Club, Kokomo Chamber of Commerce and a real estate broker. Jim was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Kokomo Rotary Foundation and Indiana Free Mason at Milltown Lodge 661.
Jim was proud of his active service to his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1963.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at First Christian Church, 854 N. 300 West, Kokomo, with the Revs. William Jewsbury and Ellen Anderson and Father Patrick Mary Briscoe officiating. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Calling will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
