Jacqueline's Story

Jacqueline Ann (French) Howell, 89, Greentown, passed away at 5:23 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017. She was born May 28, 1927, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Fredrick S. and Lena E. (Meyers) French. She married Thomas E. Howell on Aug. 27, 1950. They celebrated 59 years together before he passed Jan. 27, 2010.
Jacqueline was a 1945 graduate of Kokomo High School and had attended Indiana University Kokomo. She farmed with her husband, Tom. Jacqueline was a member of First United Methodist of Greentown where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in the UMW. She was a supporter of the Howard County 4-H program, and a member of the Greentown Glass Association. Jacqueline enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports, 4-H and school activities.
Jacqueline is survived by her children, Catherine (John) Merlau, New Palestine, Danita (David) Rodibaugh, Rensselaer, Janet (Joseph) Mathis, Sugar Land, Texas, and Kevin (Michelle) Howell, Greentown; grandchildren, Eric Merlau, Crystal (Kreig) Mitchell, Amber (Brion) St. Amour, Raven (Scott) Edson, Danita (James) Augustyn, Jeffrey (Amber) Rodibaugh, Kimberly (A.J.) Jones, Bryan (Melissa) Rodibaugh, Katherine Rodibaugh, Jacquelynn (Kristopher) Von Hohn, Joseph R. Mathis, Angelique (James) Forman, Thomas C. (Amber) Howell and Breanna (Ryan) Kenworthy; along with 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles; sister-in-law, Susan French, Fairfax, Virginia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Carolyn Howell; sister-in-law, Jo Howell, Greentown; and several nieces and nephews.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin grandsons, Nathan and Nicholas Howell; brother, Lewis William (JoeRene) French; and brothers-in-law, Billy (Delores) Howell and Richard Howell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at First United Methodist Church of Greentown, 127 S. Meridian St., Greentown, with Pastor Greg Enstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
