Jacqueline's Story

Jacqueline R. Douglass, 70, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017. Born in Kokomo, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Mary (Miller) Hizer.
She received her formal education from the Kokomo public school system, graduating with Kokomo High School Class of 1965. Furthering her education, she enrolled at Cleveland Job Corps, graduating in 1968. She was employed as an assembler at GM/Delphi and retired in 2006 after 22 years of service. She was raised under Second Missionary Baptist Church and later became a member of Grace Memorial Church of God in Christ, where she remained until her passing.
Her activities and memberships at the church included the artistry of song, the Hizer Sisters, the church choir and Grace Memorial Mothers Board. She was also a member of UAW Local 292. Jacqueline had many loves in life that included sewing, needlepoint, artistry paint and pencil, crochet and knitting, both by hand and machine.
She is survived by son, Glenn (Elizabeth) Douglass, Kokomo; daughters, Lucretia McCary, Georgia, Stephanie (Sterling) Clark, Kokomo, Missionary Belinda (Tonywanda) Jackson, North Carolina, and Glenda (Anthony) Fetterhoff, Kokomo; godson, Craig (Jennifer) Simmons; sisters, Patricia Cressie, St. Louis, Janice (Mac) McDonald, Charlotte (Gerald) Jefferson and Catherine (John) Tyree, all of Kokomo; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Memorial C.O.G.I.C. with calling from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Arrangements were entrusted to Bluitt and Son Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.bluittandson.com.
