J.C. "Bub" Duffer, 78, Kempton, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at I.U. Tipton Hospital in Tipton. J.C. was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Westmoreland, Tennessee, to the late Lucian and Ina Duffer. J.C. married the former Marilyn Sue Richter in Kempton on Aug. 23, 1970.
He retired from Haynes International as an electrician after 36 ½ years. He enjoyed gardening, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed mowing yards for others during his retirement. J.C. donated all of his recycling to the Kempton Christian Church and Kempton Community Center.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Duffer; sons, Jeff Duffer, Mike Bagley (Windy), Tony Duffer (Amy); grandchildren, Jeffry and Brittany Duffer, Chelsea Shaw, Megan Stowers, Amanda and Stephanie Ogden, Kelby Jones, Holly Duffer, Noah Duffer; great-grandchildren, Callee Shaw, Maddie Ogden, Ezequiel Stowers, Ross Cuevas; two brothers, Duke Duffer and Dan Duffer; and a sister, Dottie Gibbs, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
J.C. was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenny Duffer; a sister, Deloris Cline; and one niece and one nephew.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Ed Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery, Kempton. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., also at the funeral home.
